Just like connecting to Teams from Zoom Rooms, there are a few limitations that you should be aware of. Again, our biggest concern is the lack of content sharing between the two platforms. Our answer to this dilemma is the same as our Zoom Rooms solution, have the Zoom user invite a separate device on the Microsoft Teams side dedicated to content sharing.

This device will likely be a personal device, like a laptop of one of the participants. That participant can then use the share screen feature like normal. The second concern is a little easier to work around. The easy answer is to simply have the Zoom user invite every needed participant through an email invite.

So, if you plan to include a separate device dedicated to content sharing make sure the Zoom user invites that participant ahead of time. Lastly, just like the Zoom Rooms connection, android based Microsoft Teams Rooms are not supported for joining a Zoom call at this time.

The lack of support on android based systems, like the Poly Studio X Bars , is likely to change in the future as Microsoft continues to roll out updates to Teams. Direct guest join is a feature that allows Microsoft Teams Room users to join third-party online meetings, like Zoom Meetings, in one click. This functionality also works in the opposite direction—Zoom Room users joining a Microsoft Teams video meeting — which we cover below. Microsoft Teams direct guest join for Zoom Rooms enables Teams users to skip the annoying process of entering a meeting ID and passcode every time they join a Zoom call.

Your IT admin can enable Teams Room devices to join third-party meetings by following these instructions. These URLs can be found in the instructions or by contacting the third-party service directly.

We know there is not a one-size-fits-all solution. For example, it seems to going to sleep and when it wakes, it can take a couple of minutes some times. I jumped into Windows and turned off all power savings and set it to max performance it is after all an i7. I can now manage the device through Teams Admin as well.

However, I am surprised I cannot manage updates or even check for updates. The device is also still running of Windows. Not sure why 20H1 is not available much less 20H2 at this point. One other thing, and this might be a uservoice request. I love how on the Tap, it shows the upcoming meeting. I would like that to appear on the TV as well instead of just the Time and Room name. Graham Walsh Thanks for the update. Interesting they are so far behind. My only concern with these kind of devices is long term support.

Hopefully that will not become an issue. I was thinking about Intune but I thought devices in intune had to be licensed to a user. This is for a conference room. I suppose, since the conference room has a mailbox and a license, I could use that same account I figured the FoR display could not be altered and user voice was going to be the answer.

Hopefully, MS opens this up more. Feels like a no brainer to display the upcoming meeting though. I used the Zoom preview today and had a few issues. It decided to use our content camera for the webcam and I wasn't sure how to make it use the other camera. For some reason in the middle of the meeting the screen also went black for a little bit, and when it came back we were not longer able to see the slide show. Just thought I would post some feedback.

This was only our first meeting using Zoom on a Teams Room device. Products 68 Special Topics 41 Video Hub Most Active Hubs Microsoft Teams.

Security, Compliance and Identity. Linus Cansby. Hi, You are correct you can't from Teams call into a meeting hosted by Webex, Zoom or others. Hi Linus, thank you for the information. Since it will be hard for Microsoft to support all changes in the different platforms they will not build in support into Teams.

If there is an update in Webex, Microsoft have to change the Teams-client and if it doesn't work they have to support it, can be a mess. But this only what I think. For the user it better to click the Join link in the invite and then the web browser opens with the latest Zoom, Webex, Bluejeans, etc.

If there is an update on server side the web application will also be updated and work for the users. The gateway you are using today lync. So if you want to be able to join Zoom meetings with Teams client, then Zoom have to setup a Teams gateway. In the same way as Microsoft have their CVI partners creating gateways allowing other clients joining meetings hosted in Teams. Hi Linus, thank you for the clarification.

So, in order to make Teams Rooms System as inter operable as possible I should use a third party service, and create the meetings myself.

Thus the probability is higher, that the other party will be able to join. Absolutely, hence my original point :D Since Teams is a dial in service it would be deploying the third party solution and creating the meetings for others to join. Apologies - had a bit of a mad day. Thanks Linus Cansby for jumping in! Chris Hawkins. Meeting room devices is exactly what I need. Other clients on laptops can join using the browser.

If those devices will be covered by the update, that would be a major improvement! Hi, Microsoft Teams Room systems will get that update so that they can join Webex and Zoom meetings, unclear when. Can't wait for this update!

Maybe an insider can provide further information on when it's going to be released?
